Creepy Videos

Halloween is just a few days away, so I thought I'd post some videos that I think are definitely appropriate for this holiday.  I hope everyone is managing to stay safe and dry in the midst of Frankenstorm and that the power stays on, so you can enjoy some music!

Monster Hospital by Metric

No One Believes Me by Kid Cudi

Come to Daddy by Aphex Twin

Sheena Was A Parasite by The Horrors

Wolf Like Me by TV On The Radio

Sweet Transvestite from The Rocky Horror Picture Show
It's not that this video is scary, but I love this movie and I think it qualifies as a Halloween movie, right?

Some Random Things About Me...

  • Even as an adult, I am afraid to go in the attic by myself.
  • If I only had to eat one food for the rest of my life, it would be french fries.
  • I always feel very socially awkward, but am realizing that most of that is in my head.
  • Given the opportunity, I will stay in my pajamas all day playing video games.  It doesn't really happen since having children, though.
  • I want two more children, but not any time soon. I'd like to give birth to one and adopt the other.
  • Related to the last one, I love being pregnant and giving birth.  Seriously, it seems to be something I'm really good at.
  • I have the attention span of a two year old.  I'm already bored with this post.
  • The only people I've ever cared about disappointing are my grandparents.
  • I am such a sentimental person.  Looking at old photos or hearing stories about past times and family, makes me nostalgic for times before I was even born.
  • I have a habit of being pretty direct and honest.  I think it sometimes makes me seem mean.
  • I knew my husband was the man I would marry about a month into dating him.  Sounds completely crazy, I know, but totally true.
  • If I had to change professions, I would teach middle or high school algebra.  I didn't have a decent algebra teacher until college and it made all the difference.
  • I am sometimes better at keeping in touch with friends who live on the other side of the world than I am with friends who live in the same town.
  • I rarely take things too seriously.  Humor is my biggest coping skill.
  • I still have most of the same interests I had as a child -arts and crafts, playing in the woods, video games, Hello Kitty, dolls, and watching cartoons.

Trick or Treat

Tonight is our town's trick or treat.  I'm not sure why they have it the Thursday before Halloween, but that's when it always happens.  The boys have the cutest costumes, thanks to the queen of yard sales, my step-mom.  Oscar will be Dumbo and Ben will be Mickey Mouse.  We've had a busy week, so the boys haven't actually tried the costumes on yet, so here's hoping they both fit!  I thought today would be a good time to share a few of our Halloween decorations.  The first picture is the detail of a quilt that my super talented grandma made.  She was nice enough to loan it to me to hang in my library.  I hope everyone gets some yummy treats for Halloween!  We will walk the boys to a few of the surrounding houses and then come home to hand out candy.  I love seeing everyone's costumes and, just in case you live in the area, really cute or creative costumes get more candy from me!

Once Upon A Time ~ Snow White

As far as Disney versions of fairy tale characters go, Snow White is probably my favorite.  I always dreamed of having a little girl with pale milky skin, rosy lips and cheeks, and the darkest black hair.  Pretty unlikely considering the skin tone and hair color of me and my husband, but a girl can dream.  The original versions of Snow White are much darker than the Disney version, of course, but there certainly are a lot of cute items inspired by this dark tale!

This version of Snow White is so super cute!

Weekend Recap

The boys and I spent the weekend at my grandparent's house, our favorite weekend getaway.  We had such a great weekend, complete with a parade, a large outdoor flea market, lots of playtime, and a walk in the woods that ended with a visit to my grandparent's fat little goat.

My grandparents have the best view from their back porch.  It was especially pretty, since all the leaves are changing to shades of orange and yellow.
On Saturday, we went to watch a parade that's part of a fall folk festival.  Oscar was pretty interested in the entire parade, but Ben got sleepy and ended up going for a walk with my Aunt Jan, Grandma Jan to the boys.
Oscar and his cousin, Liam, had buckets ready to collect any candy being thrown by people in the parade.
The boys learned pretty quickly that by waving to the people in the parade, they would be more noticeable.  That guaranteed more candy!
The parade was full of classic cars, cool old steam engines, and more tractors than can shake a stick at!
I wish I had gotten a better picture of this old food truck, because it was my second favorite part of the parade!  Here was my favorite...
It took everything I had not to run over to these little guys and give them hugs and snuggles!  These sweet horses are further proof that everything is cuter in miniature form!
After the parade, we headed to a big flea market.  Oscar got this awesome hat and a bike horn.  I picked up some gloves, a few vintage magazines, and a set of Pyrex mixing bowls.  Ben slept the whole time, so he missed out.
Before dinner on Sunday, we went for a walk, visited with Bulldog, and enjoyed the sunshine and cool fall air.  The boys had fun finding pretty flowers and leaves and when Ben got a little fussy, Oscar comforted him.

This week is shaping up to be a busy one, so it's nice to look back at our easy weekend.  Hope everyone's week is off to a good start!
