Valentine's Crafts

Last Friday, I went to visit Heidi for the evening.  There was tons of chatting, yummy vegetarian chicken enchiladas, and some fun Valentine's themed crafts.  I made little ornaments out of thrifted molds, scans of vintage valentines, and some other goodies Heidi had in her stash of supplies.  I love how they turned out and am looking forward to making more!

Some more molds arrived in the mail yesterday and I have been on the lookout for cute things to decorate them.  I can't wait to make some of these for Easter and plan on making a few more Valentine's ones before the holiday is here!

Have you noticed the lack of cute valentines these days?  My grandma and aunt let me borrow their collection of vintage valentines to scan and they're so lovely and sweet.  I'm thinking I will share them in a post next week!

Recent Finds

The thrift stores have been a bit disappointing lately, but I've managed to find a few treasures.  Some of these finds are from some antique stores my grandparents took me to a few weeks ago.  I love finding new shops!  Anyone else have any good finds lately?

Hooray for after Christmas finds!

I've been looking for a little house shelf for ages!

Donnie says this hobo may be his least favorite thing I've brought home, but I think he's sweet!

crafteroon gifts I decided to keep instead

My first Valentine planter, but probably not my last!

I love this giant Fireking casserole!!

pretty blue bowls

Hey, doll face!

There's a pig on the other side, but he's not as cute as the bear!

This little jar ended up being  part of my gift for the crafternoon.

Tough Tootin' Baby

This week's playlist is a bit random, but they're all songs that I really like that I had sort of forgotten about.  They're all pretty upbeat and fun, nothing too heavy or mellow this time around!  I'm typing this post ahead of time, but if we are in fact getting the yucky winter weather that was expected, turn your speakers up and have a little dance party! Oh, the post title doesn't really have anything to do with the songs I'm sharing.  I just felt like referencing Adventure Time!

Collections ~ Paper Dolls

I've loved paper dolls for as long as I can remember.  I think I inherited that love from my mother, who used to make her own.  As I grew out of playing with them, I still found myself being drawn to them and my collection quickly grew.  I recently pulled them all out of my attic and really enjoyed looking through them all.  I had forgotten how beautiful some of them are and how many I actually have!  I was thinking of breaking this post up into parts, but I'm just going to post everything I got photographed earlier this week.  Oscar helped me sort through my collection and lay them all out for photos.  He even used his mini toy camera to take photos too!  This post is pretty image-heavy and it isn't even my whole collection, so maybe there will be a part two in the future.

I'm not sure if these are actually famous actresses, but they are very glamorous!

I really want this outfit in my size!

The cutest little squirrel family ever!

Blondie & Dagwood (Does anyone know the name of the little girl?)

These dolls' costumes are very Mad Men!

Sally and Sue will play with you

The bigger girl's poor head has been taped back on.  These are my biggest dolls!

These belonged to my mom and were my favorite to play with!

She also belonged to my mom, who put many of her dolls into a photo album.

Veronica.  My mom traced this doll to make her own and then made her own costumes for them!

These are probably my very favorite.  Each girl has Rose in her name.

Look at all these great costumes and outfits!!

Again, I want these in my size!!
These were mine when I was a little girl!

Mr. & Mrs. Claus

I love this little girl's haircut.  She's so sweet!

This is June Allyson, who you may recognize from Depends commercials!

Two Sandra Dees!

This is one of my older books and is full of gorgeous dresses!

Patriotic Paper Dolls
Even the boxes are adorable!

I spent so a lot of time playing with these.  I have She-Ra too, but sadly her head is missing!

I have a second set of these that are actually cut out.

A Little Peek Into Our Hall

Hallways are totally taken for granted.  Sure they're tiny little spaces, but they get us from room to room.  Our hall and stairway used to be pretty ugly and I don't think anyone ever really noticed or appreciated it.  There was wood paneling and dingy white walls.  When it came time to spruce it up, we went crazy with color and filled the walls with artwork.  Now we love this little space!  There is still one small wall at the top of the stairs that is still bare, but eventually it will be full of frames too!

January's Crafternoon

Heidi is always such a great hostess!  Look at that freaking cake!  It was yummy, as was everything else.  I forgot to take a picture of Jessee's delicious macarons, but I managed to stuff a whole bunch in my mouth (not all at once)!  There was also hummus, various chips, and some salsa cheese.

This month's gift exchange seemed like it went much longer than previous months, even though there were less people.  Everyone kept stealing gifts until there were no more left to steal!  So fun!  I ended up with a super cute mug, some hot cocoa, and the afghan that has been keeping me warm on the sofa every evening.  Thanks, Lindsey!

Here is my finished charm bracelet and some cute little flowers that I plan on making into brooches.  Jessee was sweet enough to bring along some of her stash of supplies, so after I finished my bracelet, I made these goodies!  I absolutely love my bracelet and the noise it makes as the charms clang together.  I can't wait to wear it out!
