Bag Lady

If you ask my husband, he will probably tell you that I don't really need any more bags, but he knows that I love purses, pouches, wallets, and anything else of the sort.  We have a single small closet in our bedroom and my sweet husband was kind enough to install peg boards and shelves to accommodate my ever growing bag collection.  It actually outgrew the closet years ago, but I still manage to shove new ones in there.  Here are a few more I wouldn't mind finding space for.

We're going to see Eels!

It's been a long time since Donnie and I have been to a show.  It's something we used to love doing before having kids, but now we are old and tired!!  When I saw that Eels were playing in DC in March, I was super excited.  We've never seen E live and are big fans.  When I asked my friend, James, who's musical tastes are fairly similar to mine, if it was a show worth seeing, his response was, "Kill someone to do so if necessary."  We didn't have to quite go to those lengths, because it was actually just as simple as buying tickets!  To celebrate, here's my favorite Eels song.  Enjoy!!

How Charming!

Today is this month's crafternoon and, as always, I am looking forward to seeing everyone and making something fun.  We are making charm bracelets this time and I wanted to do something really fun and colorful, because I already have a traditional charm bracelet full of silver charms.  I have been gathering supplies and have them all ready to go.  My gifts for the white elephant exchange are all wrapped too.  Now I just have to wait for the afternoon to roll around!

For anyone who wants to make their own bracelet, you can find potential charms all over the place!  I am using cell phone charms, doll shoes, re-ment miniatures from Japan, vintage gumball charms, small toys, and some actual jewelry charms that I either bought at the craft store or made.  The little green in the top left corner of the charms picture is actually two puffy stickers that have been stuck together.  I actually saw Martha Stewart make an entire charm bracelet using charms made from these types of stickers.  Just think of what interests you and go from there!

Once Upon a Time ~ Hansel and Gretel

I have always loved the story of Hansel and Gretel.  I had this copy of the story when I was a child and I always loved the illustrations, especially the gingerbread house.  I used to play in the woods a lot when I was younger and I think I always secretly wished to come upon a house made up of candy and cookies.  Mine would not be inhabited by an evil witch, though!

Amazon has many different versions of the story, but this reproduction of a 1916 version is one of my favorites!

Happy New Year!

Hey there!  I hope everyone's year is off to a good start!  I know I'm a little late with the new year's wishes, but better late than never, right?  I had a great New Year's Eve at home with my family, which is just how I like it.  I've never really been into going out on New Years Eve or doing much of anything, outside of eating some good food and trying to stay up until midnight.  I accomplished both of those things this time around.  We had cheese fondue and meatballs for dinner and after everyone went to bed, Donnie and I watched reruns of  Doctor Who and Portlandia and enjoyed some chocolate fondue.  On a related note, toddlers with fondue forks are both hilarious and terrifying!

Pin Me

I am really huge accessory kind of girl.  I will seriously try to build an outfit around a piece of jewelry or a cute pair of shoes.  I especially love brooches and pins.  Is there even a difference between those two things?  Anyway, here are a few I wouldn't mind pinning to my sweater!  Click on the picture to get a better look at these lovelies.
