Absence Makes the Heart Grow Fonder

Hello there!  Long time no blog!  I would love to say that I've been off having super exciting adventures, but really I've just been busy with the normal life stuff.  Oh, there have been good tv shows too!  The point is I've gotten a bit distracted from blogging, which is sad, because I really love doing it.  So I'm back!  I missed my favorite day, Musical Monday, though, so I'm cheating and making today Musical Tuesday!

I've been watching an Australian show called Slide while I workout and while it's no match for my beloved Skins, it's decent and there's some good music featured during each episode.  All the bands on today's playlist appear on the show.  Maybe the music was the best part of Slide, since it only made it for one season!  Enjoy the playlist and if you're interested in watching the show, you can find all ten episodes on Netflix!

City Park

On Wednesday I took the day off work to hang out with Donnie and the boys.  Despite it being a bit cool and overcast, we had a lovely day at Oscar's favorite park.  We fed the birds, enjoyed all the newly bloomed flowers, and spent a very long time at the playground.  Only the promise of ice cream could get the boys to agree to leave, but that was pretty much a win for me too. 

 

Collections ~ Glassware

One can never have too many drinking glasses, right?  We don't get a lot of company these days and pretty much never throw any outrageous dinner parties, but we are so prepared if we ever change our minds!  I love vintage patterned glass and bar ware and have been collecting it since Donnie and I moved into our own place.  The silver polka dot glasses below are my very favorite, because they were an anniversary gift from one set of great grandparents to another.  Because of that sentimental connection, I rarely let anyone drink from them.  The dust settled in the bottom makes that pretty clear!  Now that I've outed myself as a less than super housekeeper, I should shut up and just get to my collection.  This isn't everything, but here are some of my favorites!

Musical Monday!

I'm not even going to pretend that I understand what the hell is going on in this video, but I sure do enjoy the song!  We've been busy enjoying the amazing weather, so I haven't really had much time to blog or do anything else indoors.  The boys and I have been coming home each evening, dumping our things inside, and heading out to the back yard.  It's been wonderful!

Is Springtime really here??

It looks like we are finally getting some warmer spring weather, although I hope I haven't spoken too soon! I am ready for the warmth, for bare legs and sandals, and for cute little dresses. I love playing around on Polyvore and putting together outfits. I thought the warm weather was a perfect reason to build an outfit around this really adorable dress. It makes me want to get outside and go for some long speedy walks, so that I can actually fit into it!

Hello again, Monday!

I've settled back into my regular routine, after being in Baltimore for most of last week.  The conference was really amazing.  I am really passionate about my work and it was inspiring to see so many people who share or even surpass that passion and are doing really great things.  I came away from it all sort of wanting to run away and work with some of the people who were there as speakers and giving trainings.  I'll probably do some future posts on some of the agencies and work I learned about, but today is about music.  I'm not really a very organized or routine kind of person, so it's a big deal that this one small thing is consistent.  Since I'm still without an iPod, I've been making myself mix CDs for in my car, so I've been trying to find some new music to add to those mixes.  Here are a few of the songs I've found recently that I've really liked.  As always, enjoy!

I'm Outta Here!

I'm off to Baltimore for the rest of the week.  I'll be attending the International Conference on Sexual Assault, Domestic Violence, and Stalking and I'm pretty excited!  I love learning about things in my field of work and although I will miss my guys at home, I am viewing this as a mini vacation.  I'll be back next week with super exciting posts.  I'm sure you can hardly wait, but for now, educate yourself and see how you can help out by going here!
